Living-room measurements and modeling notes

Updated September 16, 2026. Dimensions are inches. The measured-room revision uses the bookshelf's front edge for the new longitudinal measurements. The island's centered position is an estimate requested by the owner.

Room measurements used

Reference Measurement Value Basis
A Rear black wall to living-room-facing end of bathroom door wall 98 User measured
B Slider glass to outer bathroom door-wall face ~74 User measured approximately; includes the corner notch
C Stair-side end of white credenza wall to rear black wall 112 User measured
D Bookshelf FRONT to bookshelf-side end of white credenza wall 125 User measured; front edge explicitly confirmed
E Kitchen island's short outside countertop dimension ~41 User measured approximately; direction confirmed
White credenza wall End to end along the room 72 User measured
Room width Slider glass to living-room face of white credenza wall 210 User measured
Corner notch Width along glass-to-kitchen direction × projection toward bookshelf ~25 × 8½ User confirmed; replaces earlier ~20-inch width
Bookcase projection Supporting wall to furthest cabinet/counter front 23 User measured
Credenza depth White wall to front of cabinet 20 User measured
Existing sofa clearance Current sofa right end to credenza front 41 Earlier measurement of existing furniture; not the new island measurement
Existing sofa to white wall Existing sofa right end to white wall 61 41 + 20, user confirmed

Derived room geometry

These calculations use parallel measurements and the same rear black wall for A and C. A direct bookshelf-front to bathroom-face measurement would be a useful independent cross-check. Do not compare the old 236-inch room estimate directly with 309: 236 was measured in the model from the supporting wall to the nearer bathroom face, while 309 starts at the bookshelf front and ends at the deeper rear black wall.

The correction relocates the 72-inch white partition about 36.36 inches toward the rear compared with the earlier model, extends the rear-wall position about 15.86 inches, and moves the main bathroom face about 2 inches toward the bookcase. These are model adjustments, not additional field measurements.

Sofa placement and credenza

Sofa dimensions are preserved. Each sofa moves 2 inches toward the bookshelf to follow the corrected bathroom face while keeping the established forward offset: 12 inches from the main bathroom wall (the original 3-inch allowance plus the requested 9-inch shift), leaving 3½ inches to the face of the 8½-inch projection. The wider notch is included inside B=74, not added to it.

The nearest sofa end stays 7 inches from the slider glass. This is a proposed furniture/drapery allowance, not a walking route. Curtain projection remains estimated at 4 inches.

210 − 7 − sofa width − any retained 20-inch credenza = nominal kitchen-side gap.

Planning case Maximum sofa width
42-inch nominal gap; credenza removed 161
41-inch nominal gap; credenza removed 162
36-inch nominal gap; credenza removed 167
36-inch nominal gap; 20-inch credenza retained 147

The 36- and 42-inch values are planning targets. These are width allowances against a wall/cabinet plane; the actual route depends on wall ends, furniture and the usable balcony opening. The credenza's length is still estimated. The furnished setting retains it for qualifying sofa widths; Sofa only hides it for every option.

Kitchen and stairs

The approximately 41-inch island is centered between the bookshelf-front reference and the near end of the white partition, as requested. That gives approximately 42 inches on each side, because (125 − 41) ÷ 2 = 42. The gaps are estimated placement, not measured kitchen aisle clearances. The island's long dimension and kitchen details remain approximate.

The lowest stair tread's front edge remains aligned with the living-room-facing white-wall plane. The staircase moves with the corrected rear-wall position along the other direction; its upper landing and other dimensions remain contextual estimates.

Room settings and appearance

Both Sofa only and Furnished room remain available from all five camera angles. Sofa only removes the rug, coffee table, opposite chairs, credenza and proposed wall art; ottomans belonging to the selected sofa remain. Furnished room keeps the existing furnishing study in the corrected architecture.

The model retains the existing gray walls, drapery and bookcase. Sofa envelopes follow documented RH dimensions; upholstery details, cushion softness, fabrics and colors are visual interpretations. This remains a planning model rather than a site survey or manufacturer CAD.

Remaining useful checks

  1. Balcony opening: usable width, its location along the glass wall, moving panels and stacked curtain projection. Keep a continuous route to the balcony; the previously rejected Lugano L layout remains excluded.
  2. Independent room-length check: bookshelf front to the main bathroom face, calculated at 211. The more-forward notch face is a different endpoint, calculated at 202½.
  3. Kitchen later: one island-to-partition or island-to-bookshelf-front gap and the island's long countertop dimension. Centered placement is acceptable for this version.
  4. Visual details later: ceiling height (currently estimated at 120), bookcase height/width and upper shelf depth, and lowered projector-screen width, height and floor-to-bottom height.
  5. Separate side offset: the earlier 17-inch bookcase-side-to-slider measurement still needs its precise endpoints identified. The new front-edge clarification for D does not resolve this different measurement.
